The workshop is tailored for the PA or PA students who have no, infrequent, or regular suturing experience. The workshop starts with a lecture covering wound healing theory, superficial wound management, local anesthesia, suture and needle selection, proper follow up care management, basic and advanced wound closure techniques. Following the lecture, participants will experience hands-on opportunity to learn and practice superficial wound closure techniques. The participants are supervised by experienced surgical PAs from a variety of surgical sub-specialties from across the country.  

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
⦁ Identify several aspects of wound healing theory
⦁ Discuss superficial wound management
⦁ Describe local anesthesia administration
⦁ Select appropriate sutures and needle types
⦁ Discuss proper follow-up wound management
