The workshop is tailored for the PA or PA student who has no, infrequent, or regular suturing experience. The workshop starts with a lecture covering wound healing theory, superficial wound management, local anesthesia, suture and needle selection, proper follow-up care management, and basic and advanced wound closure techniques. Following the lecture, participants will experience hands-on opportunities to learn and practice superficial wound closure techniques. The participants are supervised by experienced surgical PAs from a variety of surgical sub-specialties from across the country. 

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
⦁ Identify several aspects of wound healing theory
⦁ Discuss superficial wound management
⦁ Describe local anesthesia administration
⦁ Select appropriate sutures and needle types
⦁ Discuss proper follow-up wound management
