Event Information

Description:

A ticket is required for participation in this small interactive session. Register online here.

This small group activity is designed to provide PAs and PA faculty with an orientation to the responsibilities and expectations of peer reviewers for PA-oriented journals. Presenters will briefly highlight the important role that peer review plays for these journals. Methods and strategies that include best practices and create a valuable peer review will be discussed and demonstrated. Attendees will have an opportunity to practice the described skills by peer reviewing a manuscript at their table and will gain valuable skills associated with publishing and peer review. Publication of articles and the scholarly review of submitted manuscripts in peer reviewed journals are widely accepted and valued forms of scholarship among institutes of higher education. Scholarship can be an important responsibility and expectation for faculty members and clinicians alike.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
⦁ Describe the purpose of peer review
⦁ Articulate the steps in the peer review process
⦁ Identify the best practices associated with peer reviewing manuscripts
⦁ Peer review a manuscript submission for a PA-oriented journal
